TOURISM IN SLOVAKIA
Tourism
in Slovakia offers natural landscapes, mountains, caves, medieval castles and
towns, folk architecture, spas and ski resortsThere are a lot of caves in Slovakia. One of them, Ochtinska aragonit cave is a part of the world cultural and natural heritage of UNESCO. Cave was created by activity of atmospheric water in crystalic limestone. From these underground cavities were created beautiful aragonit structures. It`s one of three caves of this type in the world.
In Slovakia there are about 1300 mineral sources that are used like curative water and high quality mineral water to drink. The sources with curative effects are the resources for 23 thermal spas.
The most attractive destinations are the capital and the High Tatras.
THE HIGH TATRAS
This
“city” is in fact a collection of fifteen tiny foothill settlements. The life
of its roughly 5,000 inhabitants is closely tied to the park and its various
activities.
It
provides most of the services to be found in a city, most often centred either
in many hotels or in the three largest settlements of Tatranská Lomnica,
Smokovec or Štrbské Pleso.
STREDNÁ ODBORNÁ
ŠKOLA, HANDLOVÁ
If you want to find our school you have to look for in the middle of
Slovakia nearby district town Prievidza.
Handlová is located in the Handlovka
brook valley, surrounded by the mountain ranges of Vtáčnik
in the west and Žiar in the south, east and north, in the
historical region of Hauerland.
The town was
established in 1376 and was inhabited by German settlers but it received town privileges later, in
1960. Coal was first mined in the second half of the 18th century but radical change in the development of the
village was the year 1909, when the industrial production of coal started.
Mine gave bread vast majority of the
population, affecting the architecture of the city, building infrastructure,
culture of people. Today, town with nearly 18 thousand people is the second
largest town in the Upper Nitra.
Our school has rich history too. It was established
on the 1-st of October in 1948. The town and his industry needed qalified
workers so the main branch of study was mining.
Character of school changed in 1989 because attenuation of mining occurred in Slovakia. New study programs as
powerline mechanik, administrative worker and busine academy were opened. The last important change came in 2007 when Secondary Technical School
and our school has been joined.
Now the oficial name of our school is „Stredná
odborná škola“ and students can study business academy, bilingual business
academy, technical lyceum, electrical engineering, mechatronics, graphic of
digital media, mechanic of computer networks, technical – administrative
worker, powerline mechanic, mechanical engineering, dresmaker and social
worker. We have more than 800 students and 70 teachers. Our students can study
CISCO Networking Academy, participate in international projects and
competitios, attend various courses or do some sports at school after lessons.
